Because of Fox's ongoing copyright litigation surrounding "Buffy," they cannot grant us permission to show episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" at the 2008 Slay-A-Thon.  However, they can allow us to show "Angel" episodes.

We are "revamping" our 2008 event and will show "Angel" exclusively this year.  While we are disappointed, we appreciate Fox's willingness to compromise and continue their support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Please remember the most important part of Slay-A-Thon is the wishes we are able to grant for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

What is the Make-A-Wish Foundation®?

"We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy."

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 97,000 children worldwide.

Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.

A network of more than 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation® to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fund raisers, special events assistants, and in numerous other capacities.

As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present, and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish®.

How can you participate in the Slay-A-Thon?

The Slay-A-Thon is open to anyone wishing to join us.  We watch 12 "Slayer-riffic" episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel". People who attend are encouraged to make a donation themselves as well as getting others to "sponsor" them. You are not required to attend the entire event. Stay for the day or stop by for your favorite episodes.

Who can come?

Only people in leather carrying wooden stakes! Not really. Anyone can come. We hope that you will bring donations, but the event is open to the public. We are looking for a teen to adult crowd. Go to the registration page to sign up.

How do I get donations?

This is a charity fundraising event. No one is expected to bring in a ton of money on their own, but we encourage you to get people to sponsor you with our donation sheet. How much money can be earned? Well, if you try for 10 people to each give you $20 dollars, you will earn $200 for charity. If your company has match programs, that would be $400 for Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois.
